Our Story
"The LD Expert" was born when from early morning phone calls between two best friends discussing how to better help students in need of services.
CEO & Founder, Stephanie, spent her early career working in specialized schools specifically for students with Learning Differences, witnessing the "red tape" of school systems holding students back. She combined her passions with COO and Co-Owner, Chelsea, a speech language pathologist who has worked online in schools for over a decade, to build a company that allows expert teachers and therapists to provide the services needed in the way that students needs them.
Certified practitioners are not available in all areas of the country, and providing online intervention allows families to give their child the best instruction without the proximity limitations. Many schools struggle to find quality part-time educators to meet their Special Education needs. We are here to help wth both!
Your student's specific strengths and needs are our priority, and we always have their individual learning styles in mind during instruction. We strive to combine the expertise of teachers who understand learning differences with the convenience of an online platform!

How much do Dyslexia/Wilson Reading Tutors Charge?Nationally, rates for dyslexia or Wilson tutoring can range from $50-$130 per hour. LD Expert is proud to fall in the median range of that scale with the assurance that we only hire the most qualified teachers that we would trust to work with our own children.

Do you have reading/dyslexia tutors near me?Yes! We have expert tutors near everyone, becuase all of our services are provided online. You can participate in sessions anywhere there is Wifi.

What is Wilson Reading Certification?For a professional to have Wilson Reading certification, they must complete a 3-day introductory workshop, master's level coursework, and a 1:1 year-long practicum that is supervised by a Wilson Trainer. All LD Expert reading tutors are fully certified through Wilson.

Is online dyslexia tutoring effective?Yes! LD Expert collects continuous data about the effectiveness of our programs, and we are proud to say that all of our students experience growth - even up to 4 grade levels!!

What are some characteristics of dyslexia?-Difficulty with rhyming -Difficulty with rapid naming of letter sounds and names -Difficulty with reading and sounding out words -Tendancy to avoid reading -Letter confusion and reversals -Strength with auditory delivery of information Dyslexia is a chronic condition, but treatment is very effective! Orton-Gillingham based program such as the Wilson Reading System, which is what LD Expert uses, are scientifically proven to be the best treatment for Dyslexia.

Are there any apps for dyslexia?Yes. There are some apps that work well for students with dyslexia such as Learning Ally and Read & Write (chrome extension). However, explicit and individualized instruction delivered by a certified professional will get you more bang for your buck when it comes to seeing progress with your student.
